Austin Puts The Giving Back In Thanksgiving

Volunteers in Austin are helping to pay it forward this Thanksgiving by partnering with the American Red Cross, Meals-on-Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and other local nonprofits. According to organizers, the annual community event is aimed at sharing various human resources and help programs in this Texas capital with those in need.

In fact, the Austin “Thanksgiving” charity drive is credited with delivering thousands of meals and food to Texans who are now unemployed, disabled or elderly. The people being served are viewed as being desperately in need of food and financial help at a time of the year when Americans are thankful for their country and its many blessings.

Austin Charities

Another aspect of charity partnership in Austin is linked to the many good people in the region who regularly give food and other supplies to local charities for the less fortunate in their community. The Austin charity program features numerous local non-profits including:

  • Habitat for Humanity
  • American Red Cross
  • Meals-On-Wheels

In general, volunteeers from these charities collect food in highly spirited and successful drives that involve going door-to-door to help local food banks with needed groceries that are freely given to the needy in time for Thanksgiving.

Habitat & Meals-On-Wheels

Habitat for Humanity’s famed “Build Program” in Austin is all about helping for the less fortunate during the Thanksgiving season.

For example, the Austin branch of Habitat also works with Austin’s Meals-On-Wheels program during this community wide charity effort for Thanksgiving.

This popular Austin non-profit organization also helps connect needy seniors and others in need with Meals-On-Wheels programs that not only helps deliver hot, nutritious Thanksgiving dinners, but daily food for homebound people in Austin who need help with food aid. In turn, Habitat for Humanity is focused on giving “every man, woman and child” the housing they deserve that is both affordable and safe.
